Sesame English™ for children 4 - 7 years old
For younger children who need to learn English...Berlitz® and the creators of Sesame Street®, have teamed up to present Sesame English™, a multimedia initiative to introduce children to the English language. The teaching program uses a lively, multilingual Muppet character named Tingo, created by the Jim Henson Company and Sesame Workshop™--the people who have delighted the world with Sesame Street and its cast of lovable characters for over 30 years, and one of the most respected names in children's educational entertainment. Tingo makes language learning both accessible and fun for young kids through television shows, videos, books, and other study materials.
Sesame English courses employ the patented Berlitz Method®, which emphasizes interactive, small group and/or one-on-one learning with lots of attention from the teacher. The curriculum is supported by instructional materials like activity books, flashcards, games, crafts, chants, traditional English songs and more. Highly trained Berlitz teachers use these materials along with Muppet characters to create a comfort zone and learning framework suitable for youngsters. A class favorite is the Tingo hand puppet, which engages the attention of the kids and gives the teacher a second "voice" to interact with in English and other languages.
The Sesame English™ program consists of two courses, with four levels per course:
Elmo for ages four and five, and Tingo for ages six and seven. Each course is comprised of 120 lessons (30 per level) that feature familiar Sesame Street Muppets like Big Bird, Elmo, Bert and Ernie, Cookie Monster, Grover, and Oscar the Grouch in addition to Tingo. Each student enrolled in these courses receives a welcome kit with instructional material such as a full color picture book and a Sesame English Passport. The Passport allows teachers to record their students' progress and parents to monitor improvement. Students also receive a Tingo or Elmo certificate upon successful completion of each level.
